What Do You Feel Responsible For?
Let’s look at our erroneous beliefs more carefully only to shed some light on them which makes it easier to forgive them. From my own experience the most difficult hurdle has been to forgive what I had thought were my “personal” transgressions. And because I had assigned personal ownership to these I had also accepted false responsibility for them. One of these has been in the area of the body including ways I have unknowingly used it for attack through physical pain, aging, etc.
Guilt is guilt. Whatever you feel responsible for you will withhold from God’s healing while denying yourself healing via forgiveness. Give it all over to Love’s one irrefutable judgment; that you are innocent now and forever more.
Sickness, pain or adversity in any form is illusion. It’s simply an impersonal suggestion that an opposite of God’s all-encompassing Love exists. Consequently, these errors never belong to “me” personally. These are never “my” own personal property unless I prefer to use them to prove that separation from my incorruptible Innocence is real.
Again, just so this sinks in, the one believing the sickness (or suffering) and the sickness itself, are both illusions. To add to this, all the remedies sought for healing other than forgiveness, are also illusion and effect no healing at all. They simply appear to change the illusion’s appearance from sickness to the illusion of health.
These things we see and feel so convincingly with the body’s five senses are all byproducts of the belief that we are separate from God Who is all-encompassing Love without opposite. That means we, as the beloved Child of God are also Love without opposite. This fact asserts that we are changeless, unopposed, uninterrupted Love and innocence without attack.
When I believe in sickness, pain, conflict or suffering, I must also mistakenly believe that “I” am separate from Love and entirely undeserving of it. I could not suffer if I was certain that I share 100% of God’s Love along with total immunity to everything that appears other than this perfection.
But what the false self blocks from awareness is that in suffering I must agree that “I” am the opposite of Love – as fear (guilt). The presence of suffering is the denial of my oneness as all-inclusive Innocence as Love, with God. Think about this.
Suffering, regardless of where I seem to see it is always an impersonal suggestion that I am separate from God; and that there is another will apart from and as powerful as God’s. So all I’m asking for when I request healing is help to release this “belief in separation.” It matters not what particular form the seeming separation takes. Its cause is always the same.
It is not my responsibility to solve problems but to give them all over to the one Answer. If I perceive any illusion apart from God’s Love then my awareness of Love’s certain and ever-present perfection is obscured. Only my clouded perception believes, sees and feels suffering. Only my clouded perception is begging to be wiped clean of guilt’s attraction along with its painful effects.
Let me recognize my Problems have already been Solved
There is no cause in the body or the world that can have an effect (symptoms or consequences) in the body or the world. The reason for this is that all cause and effects, and physical symptoms, etc., occur together in our mind (not brain). There is no power external of our mind that can cause anything. All power resides in our mind and only Love overrules everything
So…what exactly do you assign as the CAUSE of your sickness, pain or problem? If you place the cause in an illusion and you really believe it is there, then you’ve unknowingly denied the real cause (guilt) and its only remedy which is forgiveness. The body is a thought in our mind. It answers exclusively to what we believe we are and hence, what we believe we deserve. In reality the body has no history. In any present moment it responds either to our guilt or our guiltlessness.
The body is a completely neutral, now moment projection that is occurring in our mind. The mind is not in the body. The body is in our mind together with the world we seem to see. When we believe the cause of disease is heredity, in the body, in our environment, in food, or in the past, then the real cause as unconscious guilt cannot be forgiven. We have misplaced the cause and therefore, cannot access the only real cure there is – forgiveness of our own mis-creation.
At this point in my own transfer of trust from fear to Love, I find that the body seems to be my tripping stone; namely, the illusion that the body can betray me through aging. However let’s look at the concept of aging.
The Laws of God profess that the body, as a “now moment” projection is entirely neutral. It cannot change in appearance unless I desire it to change, to age in this case. Remember that if I believe that aging is natural (like the illusions of disease and death) then I must value it and therefore, bring it into my experience here in the dream. I can only experience that which I value. And this includes everything I seem to defend myself from.
If I look at my mistaken beliefs then there is an assumption that aging is caused by time. And the remnants of a belief that disease and death occur as a result of many varied reasons all of which seem to be outside me, in the body, others, the past and the world.
There is no life or intelligence in matter. We give the body all the meaning it has for us by the purpose we give it. Aging is not caused by time but by guilt; by un-forgiveness, as is every other form of adversity we appear to see. It’s all un-relinquished guilt. All sickness, aging, conflict, deprivation and death are physical expressions of the fear of awakening to the Invincibility Principle – changeless Innocence as our Holy Self.
Jesus teaches us specifically that all our problems have already been solved. He says that time cannot separate problems from their solution. Just ponder on this for a minute. He says that the solution, the healing is readily available instantaneously. God knows that all our problems are the one illusion – a belief we’re separate from Love itself. It is always some form of grievance or resentment, a judgment that something is wrong. A telling clue is the presence of fear and the absence of gratitude. And this is an illusion that never really happened! But are we willing to accept the one remedy for them all? Jesus encourages us in the following lesson:
“Let me recognize my problems have been solved.”
“I seem to have problems only because I am misusing time. I believe that the problem comes first, and time must elapse before it can be worked out. I do not see the problem and the answer as simultaneous in their occurrence. That is because I do not yet realize that God has placed the answer together with the problem, so that they cannot be separated by time. The Holy Spirit will teach me this, if I will let Him. And I will understand it is impossible that I could have a problem which has not been solved already…”
“I need not wait for this to be resolved. The answer to this problem is already given me, if I will accept it. Time cannot separate this problem from its solution.” W-90.3,4
“[You] are the means for God; not separate, nor with a life apart from His. His life is manifest in you who are His Son. Each aspect of Himself is framed in holiness and perfect purity, in love celestial and so complete it wishes only that it may release all that it looks upon unto itself. Its radiance shines through each body that it looks upon, and brushes all its darkness into light merely by looking past it [to] the light.” T-25.I.4:1-4
