Because of our deeply unconscious fear of God (Love), we tend to carry that same fear over to the Christ. We don’t realize any disdain we might have for Jesus as the Christ is yet another manifestation of our own unconscious self-hatred. The real Christ dwells within, so our rejection of Jesus is a rejection of the Christ within, our Holy Self. Any negative reaction we have toward Jesus is a call for crucifixion of our self.
A good indication our own self-attack process is coming to a close, is that we’ll find we no longer desire to edit Jesus out of our life. The closer we allow Him into our awareness, the more willingly we accept our own guiltlessness. And with this allowance, our sense of worthlessness and threat disappear, replaced by a growing experience of joy and inner security. In effect, we begin to take Jesus down from the cross within our own hearts. In doing so we also forgive the Christ within, the Self we’ve been trying to crucify over and over again, throughout our human existence.
As we heal and accept the Christ within as our true Self, the imaginary gap between our self and the Christ closes. There is only one Holy Self. We discover this for our self through forgiveness of everyone and everything we seemingly see. Later, we clearly recognize with great relief that all our forgiveness was purely forgiveness of our own mistaken self. We forgive it for having used our body, others, situations, the world and God. We used it all to attack our self with the aim of remaining locked within a chaotic dream of suffering and death.
The following quote is from Jesus in A Course in Miracles:
“Let me be to you the symbol of the end of guilt, and look upon your brother as you would look on me. Forgive me all the sins you think the Son of God committed. And in the light of your forgiveness he will remember who he is, and forget what never was. I ask for your forgiveness, for if you are guilty, so must I be. But if I surmounted guilt and overcame the world, you were with me.” T-19.IV.B.6:1-5

Even since my early days of studying ACIM, I have felt like reaching out for Jesus’ hand in times of confusion (there were many of them). I would just sit with Him or walk along together and find myself much comforted. I used to suggest this to my fellow students. Some could use it as I did -others didn’t find it helpful at all. I often wondered why it wasn’t a universal experience. This article helps me to understand that not all of us can be comforted in the same way, as our associations to Jesus must vary a lot . I’m glad I loved Him naturally ,as He loves all of us!! Peace to all ! xo Grace

The quote is somewhat comforting but the reading above reminds me that at 84 I have loved Jesus since my grandma led me to him. AND of all the emotions in us humans, I have no memory of ever hating Jesus ( I felt sorry for him) and OR God because of all the Religions I tasted, I did not know much at all about God. My parents had no use for Religion and during my years of growth and as a mom, having my 8 children Baptized as Roman Catholic, I thought I was doing what was necessary and have no memory of hating Jesus or God. AND to even think I may have hate for J. and God in my UNconscious mind, literally makes no sense to me. Sorry to be such a negative person, but my many many many spiritual paths taught me to ONLY look for the BEAUTY AND GOODNESS OF GOD. I am open to comments of any of you and will consider it a correction from Holy Spirit that I Ask Him for each morning. Thank you. sn
