“We may come to Holy Relationships in a few different ways and forms. Some begin as dysfunctional special relationships where the transfer period from special to Holy may take years; even a lifetime (or more). This uncomfortable process is prolonged while one desires the goal of healing but the other is resistant.

However at some point they may both choose the same goal of healing. At this moment when they both choose to value the goal together with the means of healing (process of forgiveness), conflict, confusion and disorientation diminish rapidly. Peace, harmony and sacred union are the outcome of having the mutual purpose of healing.

Divine repurposing of the relationship really takes place once both people consent to Holy Spirit’s goal of undoing the many unconscious blocks to the awareness of Love’s presence. This entails the undoing or reversal of many of the ego’s most prized beliefs and practices concerning what it constitutes as love, caring and relationship. Remember that the ego cannot Love. Therefore the type of “love” it is accustomed to is really fear, guilt, sacrifice and neediness in disguise.

Areas which must be questioned and divinely repurposed include personal identity, the past, sex, personal space, children and family, roles in relationship, sacrifice, financial beliefs and values, the body, private thoughts, sympathy, sickness, pain and many, many more. In my experience when two people consciously join in the most Holy purpose on Earth everything they have learned to believe and value must be questioned and healed by Spirit.

In many relationships only one of us may be devoted to forgiveness and the reversal of all our beliefs and values. The other may be in deep resistance. These situations offer many forgiveness opportunities which provide the perfect “un-learning” classroom for us. As we consistently forgive our self for having unknowingly (innocently) used the other to attack us, we accelerate our own healing together with our companion’s healing.

Next there are those relationships where two people enter into what I would call a semi-conscious or conscious learning-teaching situation where one appears to be more the teacher or healer while the other tends to be the student or patient. In the healing process these two may choose eventually to share a common goal of healing the singular cause of suffering which is separation (not the body or the world) and thus allow the Holy Spirit to enter and transform the relationship. These relationships are often temporary but some may evolve into lifelong sacred unions.

In the illusion of time Jesus tells us that despite the appearance of a failed relationship, every relationship will eventually be healed.

“…the second level of teaching is a more sustained relationship, in which, for a time, two people enter into a fairly intense teaching-learning situation and then appear to separate. As with the first level, these meetings are not accidental, nor is what appears to be the end of the relationship a real end. Again, each has learned the most he can at the time. Yet all who meet will someday meet again, for it is the destiny of all relationships to become holy.” M-3.4:3-6

Another form of Holy Relationship is when two join consciously at the outset in the mutual goal of healing all remaining sense of separation. In this level of relationship because these two share the same goal and are well practiced in the “means”, the initial relationship goal-reversal period of conflict and disorientation is waived. This is due largely to their mutual devotion to the goal together with their advanced level of trust and forgiveness.

The ideas of exclusivity, personal ownership, gain and specialness which hallmark the ego’s special relationships cannot enter this level of relationship. It is known at a very deep level that to Love another is to free another and our self.

They have each attained the same degree of devotion to this Holy goal and therefore offer little or no resistance to the means (forgiveness) in every area of their life, i.e. personal identity, the past, sex, personal space, children and family, roles in relationship, sacrifice, financial beliefs and values, the body, private thoughts, sympathy, sickness, pain and many, many more.

Their mutual devotion to the goal of healing is not exclusive but profoundly inclusive because it includes and serves the entire Sonship.

“God’s Teacher speaks to any two who join together for learning purposes. The relationship is holy because of that purpose…” In the teaching-learning situation, each one learns that giving and receiving are the same. The demarcations they have drawn between their roles, their minds, their bodies, their needs, their interests, and all the differences they thought separated them from one another, fade and grow dim and disappear. Those who would learn the same course share one interest and one goal.” M-2.5:3-7

The only thing that appears to divide these differing forms of Holy Relationship is time. How long do we wish to delay total joining with our brother to know our Self unequivocally as the one Christ Self we all share? Once the Holy Spirit enters each of these relationships He never leaves them and will ensure that no matter how much illusory time it takes, the closing of the gap of separation is absolutely guaranteed by God.”
